Terms of Service

1. Service Description

RecipExtract is an AI-powered optical character recognition (OCR) tool that extracts and structures recipe data from images and documents. You can upload photos or PDFs of recipes, batch-scan cookbook pages, use camera capture on eligible plans, and save extracted recipes to your GrayRecipes collection.

The Service is provided "as available." We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with reasonable notice of material changes.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you represent that you have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. See our Privacy Policy for details.

3. Your Vex Account & Single Sign-On

Creating an account on RecipExtract creates a unified Vex account that grants access to all Vex platforms and services, including GrayRecipes, without separate registration. All Vex platforms use a centralized single sign-on (SSO) system, so signing in here authenticates you across every Vex service.

Your identity, profile, and credentials are consistent across the Vex ecosystem. Closing your Vex account affects access to all Vex services, not just RecipExtract.

4. Pricing & Plans

RecipExtract does not charge you directly. Its tiers are:

• Try it free — $0, no account. 25 free scans with no sign-up required.
• Free (Vex account) — $0. Everything in Try it free, plus saving recipes, sync to GrayRecipes, upload capture, and beta features.
• Family — included with a GrayRecipes Family subscription. Adds single-photo camera capture and household sharing, unlocked by your GrayRecipes plan.
• Organization — included with a GrayRecipes Organization subscription. Adds guided live multi-page scanning, unlimited scans, and digital cookbooks.

Paid RecipExtract features are provided through, and billed by, your GrayRecipes subscription. RecipExtract itself takes no payment and stores no payment method. For plan pricing, see grayrecipes.com/pricing.

5. Scan Limits & Fair Use

The free, no-account tier is limited to 25 scans. Signed-in tiers carry higher or unlimited allowances as shown on the pricing page and determined by the entitlements granted through your GrayRecipes plan. We may apply reasonable rate limits and anti-abuse measures to protect availability.

6. Data Retention & the 24-Hour Window

All extraction data processed through RecipExtract is permanently deleted within 24 hours — uploaded images, scanned documents, extracted text, intermediate data, and any derived recipe content you have not saved. RecipExtract is a transient processing service and keeps no long-term storage of user-submitted content.

We do not guarantee availability for the full 24-hour period; interruptions or maintenance may cause earlier deletion. Once deleted, data cannot be recovered. Save anything you want to keep to GrayRecipes as soon as extraction is complete.

7. Saving to GrayRecipes

Signed-in users may save extracted recipes to their GrayRecipes collection before the retention window closes; no additional login is required. Content saved to GrayRecipes becomes governed by the GrayRecipes Terms of Service, which you agree to for that content by saving it.

8. AI Extraction & Accuracy

Extraction is automated and provided on a best-effort basis. It may contain errors or omissions, especially for handwriting, low-quality images, or unusual layouts. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting extracted recipes. RecipExtract makes no warranty as to the accuracy or completeness of extracted content.

9. User Content & Acceptable Use

You retain ownership of the content you upload and grant RecipExtract a limited, temporary license to process it solely to provide extraction during the retention window. You must have the right to upload the content and must not infringe third-party rights.

You agree not to upload unlawful, infringing, or harmful content; circumvent scan limits or authentication; disrupt the Service; scrape it to build a competing dataset; or use it in violation of any law. We may suspend or terminate access for violations.

10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vex Industries and RecipExtract are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data (including extraction data deleted under the 24-hour retention policy), profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes are reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
